Solvang’s The New Napa

Alright, I have finally recovered from my day of wine tasting in Solvang and now I need to tell you all about it. This is a PSA – if you are ever in the Santa Barbara area or anywhere near Santa Ynez Valley – you need to check it out. Grab your best friends, boyfriend/girlfriend, or family to celebrate your birthday, bachelor/bachelorette, or just the weekend and go.

To celebrate my twenty-third birthday a group of my closest friends and I rented a limousine service to pick us up and take us to three wineries in Santa Ynez and return us home in one piece. We used Sammy’s Limo’s & Tours and got to pull up in style in a huge white limo feeling bougie af. Sammy was super helpful in helping us choose the best wineries and even gave us an extra free hour.

Below is a list of the three wineries we went to, followed by pictures of each to give you a better sense of what they looked like and some tips for when you decide to go!

Kalyra Winery was the first stop on our list. We weren’t too sure where to head first so Sammy dropped us off here and we started off the day by taking thousands of pictures next to the vineyards (but like wouldn’t you too??). Here we started with a flight of five different wines for $15, the people working here were super nice and helpful in giving us tips on where we should head to next.

BTW, none of these wineries accept tip on cards so make sure you bring some cash along with you!!

4Not only was the flight delicious, but I also got to hang out with a pup. Here’s a picture of me in the midst of using my baby voice “wittttlleee pawwws”.

Next stop was the Bridlewood Estate Winery (this one was my favorite!!). We arrived expecting to each get another flight but one of the workers let us know it would actually be much more beneficial to get two bottles and share those. Thanks to her, we got one rosé and one white wine at the next two wineries. This estate was drop dead beautiful and so big that we felt like it was just us! We even got to hang out with horses.. which was my favorite part.

IMG_8597Walking to the perfect spot on the estate to enjoy our bottles. We picked a spot next to the lake and it was absolutely gorgeous.

2Ever since I saw a group of ponies in Paris I’ve been obsessing with horses. When I saw these two on the estate I was ECSTATIC.

3I’ll have seven glasses of rosé, please.

Last stop was Saarloos and Sons here we got to eat cupcakes, take photobooth pics, and play a bunch of games outside. It was the perfect last stop but by the end, we were definitely ready to head home!

IMG_8854“Quick take a picture of me sitting in this chair” I became obsessed with these chairs.. am I the only person that obsesses over chairs? Probably.. but Restoration Hardware is life.

IMG_8859Is there a better combo than cupcakes and wine? (Had to borrow Raquels perfectly manicured nails for this one)

IMG_8917Thank you to my friend Paloma for capturing that perfect California aesthetic.

IMG_8884Their backyard seating area was so adorable. They even had corn hole, which apparently can get very competitive, but do not worry.. my team won.

Thank you to these girls for making this trip one for the books. None of us had gone wine tasting in this area and most of us hadn’t been wine tasting at all. This was a trip we’ll never forget (except for those parts we can’t remember). I’m lucky to have friends like them and no matter the distance or time we spend apart we’ll always come back together and be the same BGC.

As one of my best friends Christina always says “There are good ships, and there are wood ships, The ships that sail the sea. But the best ships, are friendships, And may they always be.”

O-EM-GEE I’m 23

It’s official, I am twenty-three. I started off my birthday better than I could have ever imagined – being woken up to Post Malone concert tickets (OMG) – and continued throughout the day with a huge smile on my face.

Waking up around five am, thank you jetlag, and lying in bed for a few hours I got to thinking about how lucky I am to have the people that I do in my life. Every year it seems like the people I surround myself with shrinks down little by little but the relationships I keep, grow stronger. On birthdays especially, at least for me, it is an opportunity to see the people who are there for you and the people who care about you the most. It’s not about the presents or surprises, but rather about the people who make your heart feel whole. Before I even got out of bed I already felt so much love and happiness within me and already I knew I was going to have a great birthday.

Breakfast2

First stop was Scarlett Begonia, a local and organic breakfast and lunch restaurant in the heart of Santa Barbara. I’ve had my eye on this place ever since I saw a picture on Instagram a couple weeks back of their cinnamon rolls and dreamt of them every night since. It’s tucked behind a couple other stores in Victoria Court surrounded by blooming bushes, soothing fountains, and vibrant flowers.

Let me tell you the cinnamon roll was worth the wait. The server told us we got the last of the day at 12:00pm and I knew right then I was b l e s s e d. I also would like to mention that I ordered a chocolate milk to go with the cinnamon roll and being the choco milk connoisseur that I am, I would highly recommend it (10/10). It tastes exactly how chocolate milk should taste, rather than out of a Hershey bottle.

I then ordered the Endless Summer Scramble which is described as “softly scrambled organic eggs, grained potatoes, sautéed squash, caramelized onion, garlic, arugula & goat cheese” in their menu and gluten-free. But don’t worry what I didn’t eat in gluten for the main course I made up for with a side of brioche and the cinnamon bun.

Drinks at Convivo

Arriving at Convivo, in perfect time for their happy hour, we started with a sparkling rosé and a spicy margarita paired with a Margherita pizza. We then finished off with champagne to celebrate the occasion – where they also gave us a free dessert since it was a birthday! I chose the lemon tart, to watch my figure, and boyyyyyyyy did I make the right choice.

(More) Drinks at Test Pilot

IMG_8020IMG_8022

We went to the Funk Zone in Santa Barbara and went to Test Pilot where we got their happy hour Mojitos and the bartender gave us a whiskey concoction for my birthday — finished them but it’s safe to say I still hate whiskey.

To top off an already amazing day we went to the West Wind Drive-In Movie Theatre and watched the Incredibles 2. We also finished off our healthy day of eating with some fruits and veggies, like potato (chips), (pop) corn, and orange (bonbons).

The day couldn’t have been more perfect. A huge thank you to CJ for making it so special and filled with good food, conversation, and memories. I’m excited to see what this year has in store. Check back and subscribe for email updates to be the first to find out!

Affordable AF Jeans

My biggest struggle with starting this blog is figuring out what the ef I’m going to talk about. I have so many ideas jumbled up in my mind (multiplied by 100 when I drink one sip of coffee, thank u anxiety) I can’t figure out what to share first. Also, there’s the slight issue of being a dirt poor college student. But it’s okay it’s fine, everything is fine.

However, there’s one MAJOR thing that I need to share with you right now. You need to hear this or else you might save money and not shop and we can’t have that. I’m talking sales – 50% off sales. For those of you who don’t know I worked at Abercrombie & Fitch for almost three years. They were the best of times, they were the worst of times – but most importantly they were the 50%-off-for-all-associates of times. That’s why this is crucial, now that I am no longer part of the A&F fam and “in between jobs” aka broke, that I share with you that A&F is having their 50% summer sale RIGHT NOW and some items are even marked down more than 50%.

If I’ve learned anything from my time working at Abercrombie it’s that you should never buy any of their clothes full price. They will always end up on sale (especially the jeans, think BOGO) and once they’re on sale they’ll go even more on sale. Can I get sued for this??? I hope so.

My favorite jeans that I wear are from Abercrombie. They have completely changed their style – no more moose, no more logo pockets, and sometimes literally no sign of you wearing Abercrombie jeans (thank G). My favorite style is the Simone jeans, I’ve got my roommates hooked on them too.

With multiple different shades and looks, these jeans look good on all body types. When shopping online the great thing is, if you’re 5’3 like me, you can buy short jeans or if you’re blessed with height, they also have long. The best part is they are on sale right now for $19.99. I can’t breathe — literally $19.99.

Although they’re the style I have the most of, Simone jeans aren’t the only great pair at Abercrombie. I recently just bought the Annie high-rise girlfriend jeans for only $10. I can’t wait to pick them up and wear them all summer.

Some ex-associate insider advice, become part of the A&F Rewards program, if you spend $50 or more you’ll get $20.00 off your first purchase! You can either keep putting in a new email to get the same discount or you can keep your account and rack up points to get $10 vouchers for your next purchase of any amount. I sound like I am a spokesperson for A&F but I swear I’m just giving you the 411 on how to get the most bang for your buck. I just got my pair of jeans for only $10.86 with tax thanks to the rewards program! Lastly, avoid the $7 shipping cost by picking up your order in store.

I hope you’ll submerge yourself back to your eighth grade Abercrombie self and give these jeans a try! You can thank me later – when you’re lookin’ like a snack in your new jeans.

Welcome To My Blog!

Hi pretty people! I’m Philippine. I’m made in France, living in California, and a recent grad from UC Santa Barbara. Here you’ll find my daily inspirations recreated and applied to my personal style. Life, travel, and style are my passion, but then again so is In N Out.

I decided to start my blog because I have always gravitated towards the more creative side of my life. I wanted an outlet that would let me put my thoughts and artistic ideas onto a page. High fashion brands, beautiful locations, and positive energy (hygge) are just a few of the things that I can’t get enough of. There’s just something special about picking out the perfect outfit that I simply don’t get from doing a math problem??

Back in the day, my interest for fashion and style piqued as I scoped through Tumblr and YouTube. Spending hours online watching YouTubers discuss makeup, style, hair and what was in their purse made me interested in more. I spent hours on end learning and then applying what I saw to my personal life. However, I was skeptical, or maybe just too nervous, to put myself out there and start a blog or a YouTube channel of my own. But, I am here now and I couldn’t be more excited!

I hope you’ll follow along! Don’t forget to add your email and follow my blog to receive updates on new posts.
